Our calling requires and places upon us distinct and lasting responsibilities to the families we are privileged to serve as well as our community. We take seriously the call of funeral service and our obligation and commitment to provide quality service of unsurpassed value. This commitment to assisting the public in making an informed and knowledgeable decision regarding funeral service is Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home’s pledge to our families.
The funeral home was established as a storefront location known as M.A. Burke Funeral Home at 134 S. Broadway in Lawrence. In 1932, funeral director Michael A. Burke moved the funeral home to 393 N. Main Street in Andover. The funeral home remained at that location until 1949 when they moved to our present location, 390 N. Main Street, Andover. Michael A. Burke died shortly afterwards at the age of 60. Michael and his wife Sarah had four children, three of which became licensed funeral directors. Garrett J. Burke, the oldest son, purchased the funeral home from his mother and operated the family business. The Burke Funeral Home was taken over by Garrett’s son, Garry A. Burke in 1980 upon his death at age 62. In January of 2004, Garry A. Burke passed the Burke Funeral Home on to Joel J. Magliozzi, and is now known as Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home.
Garry A. Burke is still an active funeral director and a dedicated presence in the community. With three licensed funeral directors and embalmers on staff representing many years of service, we are able to provide tasteful, compassionate, and customized funeral services for each family we serve.
Joel J. Magliozzi takes great pride in continuing the tradition of caring and compassionate service that began with the Burke family. Our firm has served all faiths since its establishment over 85 years ago.
